Weddings with Mother Love

It has been another joyful year of weddings at I’ll be Mother, with many couples choosing to celebrate their big day at Swan at Chapel Down, The Beacon, Kingdom and The Twenty Six.

Tucked amid the rolling countryside of the Weald of Kent, Chapel Down is a unique venue for any wine and food lover. Marry in the scented herb garden under the pergola, before having your newly-married pictures taken in the glow of the vines. As food and world-class wine is at the heart of all we do at I’ll be Mother, we can promise it will be a highlight of your celebrations. Before the big day our Mother Love team of wedding coordinators, chefs and sommeliers will spend time with you to create your perfect menu with paired sparking and still wines, from the estate.

Sugar and Spice with I’ll be Mother this Christmas

On Thursday 13 December, we will welcome carol singers to The Beacon. Starting at 7.30pm, the evening will raise money for Hospice in the Weald, who do such vital work in our community, providing care to patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers. We have supported this charity for several years now, and the carols evening is always a lovely way to properly start the festive season. We look forward to seeing you there.

Kingdom Cafe

Our new woodland kitchen café at Kingdom in Penshurst, is open 7 days a week, 9-4pm, including the festive period, except on Christmas Day. Come for breakfast or lunch and bring the family (well-behaved dogs welcome too!) for a walk to burn off one too many mince pies.

We have hearty stews such as braised beef and roast roots and warming curries including one sweet potato, tofu and spinach, plus lighter options such as celeriac and mushroom broth and a warm butternut squash, romanesco, goats’ cheese and pearl barley salad.

Mother Love

Tis the season to be jolly, but we all know Christmas time is also the season for all things sparkly and the promise of new beginnings and adventures. If you’re planning to pop the question or, indeed, planning to say ‘yes’ to the big question, Mother Love is I’ll be Mother’s new wedding and events team. For weddings and celebrations from 12 to 160 there is a space within our four homes for every wedding whimsy.

Kingdom Café | Australian wine dinner | Charity cook book for tree of hope

Our new woodland kitchen at Kingdom Café has launched. It’s been a little while coming but we’re so happy to finally be in and settled at this magical clubhouse in the woods, surrounded by birds, trees and nature.

The Kingdom Pantry includes freshly baked sourdough, pastries and granola and is served from a central table laden with good things to eat. The Kingdom Breakfast is a plate of homemade baked butter beans with tomato and rosemary, sourdough toast and poached free-range farm eggs. There are additional extras of thick cut Kentish honey pancetta, oyster mushrooms, local sausages, vegan bacon and avocado. Or choose a bowl of hot porridge with a variety of tasty toppings. For lunch there are fresh sandwiches and hot dishes of the day, such as slow-cooked beef, roots and crushed potato or sweet potato, tofu and spinach curry.

If you haven’t been to Kingdom yet, we’re set just off Grove Road, in Penshurst and are open everyday from 9am-4pm. Kingdom is a natural space to unplug, unwind and relax in our woodland café or get active with a yoga class, walk or bike ride or sign up for a personal training course with Nature’s Gym and relax in the outdoor hot tub afterwards.

Charity cook book for tree of hope

It’s one of the most popular dishes on The Beacon’s menu. A dish, one regular diner ushered aside a chef and made him promise it would never come off. Now, the recipe for Executive Head Chef’s Mark Constable’s slow cooked lamb, harissa aubergines, bulgur wheat, apricot and pomegranate is available in a new cook book. Celebrating the incredible food scene of the towns and villages of West Kent, The Cook Book reveals the secrets from some of area’s best loved chefs, kitchens and producers. It’s a perfect Christmas gift with all proceeds from book sales going to the Tree of Hope, a charity in Tonbridge which supports families of seriously ill and disabled children, all over the UK. Copies are £20 and available to buy at The Beacon.

Australian wine dinner at The Twenty Six

Australia produces a stunning range of wines from hundreds of different grape varieties in different regions, including bold and sun-drenched red Cabernet Sauvignon and honeyed and fruity whites such as Riesling and Viognier, all showing world-class quality in the glass.
Katnook Estate lies in the heart of the fabled Coonawarra region in South Australia and is home to one of Australia’s finest terra rossa vineyards. With a history dating back to 1896, Katnook’s award-winning winesreflect the essence of Coonawarra’s terroir, displaying subtlety, intrigue and complexity.
Deakin Estate’s family owned vineyards are in north west Victoria. Here the Murray River weaves across the land, with rich, fertile soils and a warm sunny climate, giving a unique taste to these delicious wines.
